My interest in mental health and passion for helping people began over 12 years ago when started volunteering at my local Rape Crisis Centre. I knew that I wanted to become more equipped and able to support survivors of trauma in a more structured way. This led me to train as a Psychotherapist, with my initial training being in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My desire to help people work through trauma has lead me to develop my training and skill set over the years.
I have developed skills in working alongside those suffering from many mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, low self esteem and relationship issues, to list a few. I have experience in working with different members of the community. This includes working with young people within local authority schools, those living with experience of addiction and family members who have been impacted by others substance use. I am a trained couples therapist and offer sessions to couples who would benefit from support with their relationships.
I am fully accredited with the BABCP ( British Association of Cognitive Psychotherapists) and adhere to their code of conduct and ethics. I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor and enjoy the opportunity to support and develop fellow counsellors and therapists, both students and qualified.
All of my experience and focus on continuous development, learning new skills and theories mean that I now take a more integrative approach to working with clients and together we establish the most effective way to help them help themselves.
We all struggle at different times in our lives with any number of issues or just that feeling of being stuck. We can find ourselves repeating the same patterns and struggling to feel better and those we have in our lives may not or are unable to give the solution or answers we need. It is then we seek professional help. If this is resonating with you and you have decided to reach out and contact me, I will offer to meet with you in person, online or via the telephone, for a free 15/20 minute consultation chat. If we decide that we would like to work together, together we will discuss and decide on how many sessions you are likely to need. This is not set in stone and can be adjusted accordingly. At this early stage we will collaboratively begin to empower you to gain awareness and make decisions in the non judgemental, confidential, safe space of therapy.
One size does not fit all, so our work together will be collaborative and individualised to suit your needs. My training, qualifications and experience allow a vast range of tools and resources to enable us to seek the most effective and beneficial plan for you. My aim is to help you through our sessions to empower you to be your own therapist.
