My interest in mental health and passion for helping people began over 14 years ago when started volunteering at my local Rape Crisis Centre. I knew that I wanted to become more equipped and able to support survivors of trauma in a more structured and informed way. This led me to train as a Psychotherapist, with my initial training being in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My desire to help people work through trauma has lead me to develop my training and skill set over the years. This has included training in Integrative Somatic therapy and EMDR
I have developed skills in working alongside those suffering from many mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, low self esteem and relationship issues, to list a few. I have experience in working with different members of the community. This includes working with young people within local authority schools, those living with experience of addiction and family members who have been impacted by others substance use. I am a trained couples therapist and offer sessions to couples who would benefit from support with their relationships.
I am fully accredited with the BABCP ( British Association of Cognitive Psychotherapists) and adhere to their code of conduct and ethics. I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor and enjoy the opportunity to support and develop fellow counsellors and therapists, both students and qualified.
All of my experience and focus on continuous development, learning new skills and theories mean that I now take a more integrative approach to working with clients and together we establish the most effective way to help them help themselves.
At different times in our lives we can all find ourselves struggling, whether with specific challenges or a sense of being stuck. Or it may be you need a safe confidential space to chat through things. It is common to notice patterns of repeating or to feel unable to move forward, even with the support of those around us. We can find ourselves repeating the same patterns and struggling to feel better and those we have in our lives may not or are unable to give the solution or answers we need. Seeking professional help can be of value and benefit.
If this is resonating with you and you are considering to reach out, I offer a free 15-20 min online or telephone consultation chat. This gives us an opportunity to talk through whats bringing you to reach out and see whether working together feels like the right fit. It allows you to ask any questions you may have.
If we decide to have an initial session we can decide at that point if you wish to continue and a plan for going forward. This is always flexible and can be adjusted as needs evolve. It is not set in stone and can be adjusted accordingly. At this early stage we will collaboratively begin to empower you to gain self awareness and support you in making meaningful choices, all within a confidential, non judgemental, and safe therapeutic space.
I believe that no one size fits all, so our work together will be collaborative and tailored to suit your individual needs. Drawing on my training, qualifications and experience, I use a range of tools and approaches to support you in finding what works best for you. My aim is to empower you so that, over time you feel more confident in understanding yourself and navigating lifes challenges independently.
